For the past five years, I've been teaching a method of self-inquiry for writers of all levels that is having some remarkable results (see testimonials below). Helping students tap into the wellspring of their own talent —and investigate themselves as creatives — has become a joy in my life. Private CoachingThese one-on-one sessions are the heart and soul of what I do — and my favorite way of working. Students meet me at my Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn home, or at my apartment in the West Village. The relaxed, focused setting allows both instructor and student to move deeper into the process and the material.

Skype and Phone SessionsThe best option for out of town students, or those with complicated schedules. The format of these sessions is the same as private, in-person (see above). Skype offers the added benefit of a visual connection that feeds the creative process.

Topics for upcoming online courses: Tell Your Story, Fear and Desire, Writing as a Path of Self-Realization, The Situation and the Story. Weekly subject presentation and assignment are given every Tuesday. Instructor critique is returned the following Monday. Email Mark at mark@markmatousek.com to schedule. |

Full Year IntensiveA twelve-month course designed for individuals committed to completing a new full-length project or a work already in progress. Instructor-student dialogue is highly encouraged in the yearlong intensive, which includes quarterly, in-person mentoring sessions as well as telephone check-ins. Maintaining momentum is integral to the sustained discipline and pleasure of this course, by the end of which the student will have a publishable draft of his or her project.
