Writing to Awaken at the New York Open Center

I’m looking forward to my one-day workshop, Writing To Awaken: Memoir as a Spiritual Practice, at the New York Open Center on Sunday, April 28. We will spend the day exploring personal stories as pathways to wisdom and self-encounter. When we learn to see the mythic dimension of our struggles, losses, triumphs, and transformations, we gain insight into our spiritual progress — the state of our soul — and what is asking for deeper attention. Writing Your Future Story Online Class

Join me for Writing Your Future Story: A Six-Week Course in Vision and Imagination from July 1 – August 11. Every life is a work of the imagination. We create our own futures, imagine ourselves forward in time, through the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, who we’re not, what is possible, and what can never be.

In this imaginative course on self-reinvention, you will have the opportunity to explore new story lines for the year ahead, including fresh possibilities, surprising shifts, and novel ways of expanding — and improving, your future life. More info and registration.

New Psychology Today Column

Once in a while, a piece pours out of you as if it was waiting to be released. My latest column for Psychology Today , “Ordinary Heartbreak,” was like that for me. Like so many others, I find myself overwhelmed by events in the world, which is why, when people ask me how I am, I tell them, “I’m everything.” Let me know what you think!

#MeToo Dialogues with Devaa Haley Mitchell

I very much enjoyed doing this interview with Devaa Haley Mitchell for the #MeToo Dialogues with The Shift Network. We talked about what it feels like to be a fatherless boy in a house full of women, how to embody true masculinity in a world of machismo and perpetrators, and why violence against women is a men’s problem, first. Great Workshops in Prague and London

What a great workshop we had in Prague! It was my first time working with a translator and it couldn’t have gone more smoothly. We had a large, enthusiastic group and Maitrea, our hosts, had Writing To Awaken translated before I came. They’ve since bought the Czech rights to Sex Death Enlightenment as well. Prague, we went to London for the one-day workshop in Regents Park, which was well attended and powerful as well. See you all this June!
