#MeToo Dialogues with Devaa Haley Mitchell

I very much enjoyed doing this interview with Devaa Haley Mitchell for the #MeToo Dialogues with The Shift Network. We talked about what it feels like to be a fatherless boy in a house full of women, how to embody true masculinity in a world of machismo and perpetrators, and why violence against women is a men’s problem, first. Great Workshops in Prague and London

What a great workshop we had in Prague! It was my first time working with a translator and it couldn’t have gone more smoothly. We had a large, enthusiastic group and Maitrea, our hosts, had Writing To Awaken translated before I came. They’ve since bought the Czech rights to Sex Death Enlightenment as well. Prague, we went to London for the one-day workshop in Regents Park, which was well attended and powerful as well. See you all this June!

“Learning To See”: Advice For New Memoirists

Magda asked me to talk about personal adversity, and how it is that life’s greatest challenges sometimes wake us up to our true potential. We discussed the power of gratitude and the virtues of surrender in the face of the unknown.  Here is a link to our interview. I hope you enjoy it.

“Who Am I?” Excerpt From New Teaching Series

imagesI recently did a four-part video teaching series based on “Writing To Awaken.” Here is an excerpt from the first installment, titled “Who Am I?”  This core question drives memoirists and seekers alike.   Rather than simply accept our stories at face value, we have the power to transform our lives when we begin to question our myths. In this video, I talk about how to use writing practice as a path of self-discovery, insight, and healing.
