What a great time I’ve been having as always at Omega Blue Spirit. Stephan Rechtschaffen has created a real life paradise for reflection and renewal, self-exploration, spiritual practice, and being in this superb tropic setting. Howler monkeys, baby turtles hatching on the beach, chartreuse colored birds in the trees. And teaching with old friends and admired colleagues, Roshi Joan Halifax, Joan Borysenko, Elena Brower — big souls all. I look forward to teaching this retreat every year. Next week, Australia. Peace.
I’m happy to be returning to the Omega Blue Spirit retreat center in Costa Rica in 2017. I’ll be teaching “Writing To Awaken: Spiritual Memoir as a Healing Path” from January 7-14. Located on the Pacific coast, Blue Spirit offers participants the opportunity to sample from the week’s courses as they choose, and I’m delighted to be teaching this year with Roshi Joan Halifax and Joan Borysenko among others. I hope to see you there! Click here for more info and registration.
On October 24, I’ll be offering a one-day workshop, “Writing To Awaken,” in New York City. “Writing to Awaken” introduces students of all levels to expressive writing as a path of self-inquiry and personal transformation. “When you tell the truth, your story changes. When your story changes, your life is transformed.” This is a powerful practice that helps us gain insight into the true nature of our experience and the creative power at our disposal at every moment. I hope you can join me. Click here for info & registration.
The “Awakening Genius” writing retreat this past week at the Mandala Center in northern New Mexico was outstanding. So much good work and inspiration, deep breakthroughs, laughs, and revelations. Among the revelations was Beverly Manley, left, a poet from Truth or Consequences, N.M., who blew us all away with her spirit (and her verse). Mandala is located in the center of a super-volcano and the harsh, beautiful landscape tears the senses open and make way for spiritual growth. Continue reading
I had a great time last weekend at Christine Kloser’s Transformational Author Breakthrough in Baltimore. Christine asked me onstage to answer questions about writing versus “being an author” (craft and practice versus career). Christine is a new friend and wonderful coach with a large, devoted following of authors attracted to her funny, informal, spiritual approach to getting a book done. I was glad to finally meet her and see her in action. We talked about doing something together in 2014. Hope it happens!
