Writing To Awaken: Bringing Your Creative Work To Life
A Week of Exploration and Discovery in the Heart of Medieval Italy
Villa Il Poderino, Lucca, Italy
Saturday, June 22 – Friday, June 28, 2019
About the Workshop
Creativity is the life-blood of human experience. Each of us is born with unique gifts and the power to bring forth what is original inside us. Before this can happen, however, we must first learn how to harness this power and sharpen our creative intelligence. Not until we envision the work, imagine a structure, and confront our internal adversaries — fear, resistance, want of discipline – can we fully engage our muse and breathe life into our singular vision.
This vision can be brought to all walks of life, and nearly all kinds of work. Writers, artists, and entrepreneurs, educators, activists, and healthcare professionals in private practice, all rely on the creative process in delivering their best work to the world. Though the challenges of different projects may be unique, the principles of problem solving, structuring time, and maintaining creative flexibility, are universal.
This retreat, for writers of all levels, will help you focus your creative intelligence to bring your work-in-progress to fruition. Whether this work is a book, a business, an organization, or even a new chapter in your life, Writing To Awaken can help to accelerate your progress and move you toward completion.
Mark’s unique, compassionate teaching style creates a welcoming atmosphere for this deeply transformative work. Using targeted writing exercises, personalized prompts, group dialogue, and one-on-one sessions with Mark, you will have the opportunity to take a deep dive into your creative potential and explore what emerges.
Writing To Awaken will teach you to:
- Focus your creative intelligence, using your unique voice and gifts
- Envision the work you want to complete
- Create a structure for the work, and your working life
- Overcome the resistance to discipline and risk-taking
- Confront the internal adversaries that block your path, such as fear, self-judgment, and perfectionism
- Learn tools and practices for avoiding procrastination and staying on track
- Explore alternatives to your current approach, and ways of authenticating your vision
Reconnect with your muse in the gorgeous Italian countryside and leave this retreat feeling refreshed, with new inspiration and a plan of action.
